These product-specific terms cover your use of the GutClues app. They supplement the company-wide Terms of Use for True North Originals, LLC ("True North Originals," "we," "us," or "our"). Where the two conflict for GutClues specifically, these terms control. By installing or using GutClues, you agree to both.
If you do not agree, please delete the app.
1. Your license
In exchange for your one-time purchase through the Apple App Store, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use GutClues on any Apple device you own or control, in accordance with the App Store Usage Rules. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or build a competing product from the app.
2. Not medical advice
GutClues is a tool for recording what you eat, how you feel, and what comes out. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. The patterns the app surfaces are observations based on the data you enter — they are not clinical findings. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making decisions about your health, medications, or diet based on anything you see in the app.
3. Your data is your responsibility
GutClues stores your data only on your device. We have no server, no backup, and no way to recover your data if you delete the app, reset your phone, or lose your device. If you want a copy of your data, use the in-app Export feature. Keep your own backups if that matters to you. See the GutClues Privacy Policy for details on what stays on your device.
4. Purchases and refunds
Payment, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please request it through the App Store: reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly.
5. No warranty
GUTCLUES IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND — EXPRESS OR IMPLIED — INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY PATTERN OR INSIGHT IT SURFACES WILL BE CORRECT.
6. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, TRUE NORTH ORIGINALS, LLC IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF GUTCLUES, INCLUDING ANY HEALTH DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR IT.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not use GutClues to record data for someone else without their knowledge or consent.
- Do not attempt to access the app's private storage on another person's device.
- Do not use the app in a way that violates any law.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and surface a notice in the app on your next launch. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where True North Originals, LLC is registered, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that state.
